How the Period Cramp Simulator works

A clinically inspired device that translates menstrual pain into a real, adjustable physical experience, so partners can finally understand.

Based on TENS technology

The Period Cramp Simulator uses Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), the same technology used in medical and physiotherapy settings. Small electrical impulses are delivered through electrode pads placed on the abdomen, directly stimulating the muscles and nerves the way menstrual cramps do.

Electrode pads

Reusable adhesive pads placed on the lower abdomen deliver targeted stimulation to exactly the right area.

Adjustable intensity

A simple dial controls the output from a light twinge to intense, realistic cramp-like contractions.

Wave patterns

The impulses follow wave-like patterns that mimic the rhythmic nature of real uterine contractions.

From mild to intense, you're in control

The device has 10 intensity levels. No experience is required. Start low and explore at your own pace.

Levels 1–3

Light discomfort, a tingle
Levels 4–6

Moderate, distracting pain
Levels 7–9

Strong, hard to ignore
Level 10

Severe : for the brave

Using the device

Ready in under two minutes. No setup, no prior experience needed.

1

Place the electrode pads

Attach the two adhesive pads symmetrically on the lower abdomen, roughly where menstrual cramps are typically felt, just below the navel.

2

Connect the device

Plug the electrode cables into the device. Make sure the intensity dial is set to zero before switching on.

3

Switch on and start low

Turn the device on and slowly increase the intensity from level 1. There's no need to rush, the experience is most meaningful when you go progressively.

4

Explore and have the conversation

Stay at a level that feels significant. This is the moment, talk about it. What does it feel like? What would it mean to feel this every month, for days?

5

Turn off and remove pads

Dial back down to zero before switching off. Remove the pads gently, they're reusable and can be replaced when no longer adhesive.

Safe by design

The device is designed to be used without medical supervision for healthy adults. However, a few simple guidelines apply.

Safe for

  • Healthy adults with no medical conditions
  • People who have never tried TENS before
  • Use in a seated or lying position
  • Multiple sessions on the same day

Do not use if you

  • Have a pacemaker or cardiac implant
  • Are pregnant
  • Have epilepsy or a seizure disorder
  • Have open skin wounds in the area
  • Are under 18 years old
